Rethinking awareness: when people become one of the most important links in your security chain
Technology and parameter security alone are no longer enough in today's world. The more companies rely on purely technical protective measures, the clearer it becomes that people remain the decisive gateway. At the same time, however, if used correctly, they can also become an important factor in cyberdefense.
The reality is that many security incidents are not caused by a lack of technology, but by human error - often in the best of faith. Whether CEO fraud, social engineering or AI-based deception, the success rate of attackers increases where employees are unprepared. Awareness programs must therefore do more than just raise awareness. They must uncover errors in thinking, encourage critical questioning and build digital resilience.
In the age of deepfakes, generative AI and manipulative disinformation, traditional security strategies are beginning to falter. What used to be controlled with firewalls, passwords and endpoint protection is now facing new areas of attack: Trust, perception, identity. This is exactly where modern awareness comes in: It is not just training to tick off, but a strategic discipline that changes culture, behavior and mindset.
